The Challenge
Rapid pace of organizational changes and IT expansion, without proper management tools, has resulted in a typical mess when it comes to access rights. Research shows that typically one of three IT privileges is incorrect, and that 20-50% of user groups are redundant, outdated, or otherwise unnecessary. Significant operational, financial, and reputation risk, coupled with recent regulatory requirements, prompted organizations to take action.
Overview
Eurekify Enterprise Quality Manager (EQM), formerly known as Eurekify Sage EQM,
is part of the Eurekify ER&CM suite, and is used to help enterprises improve, and then maintain, the quality of privileges across systems and applications. EQM harnesses Eurekify’s outstanding analytical capabilities to audit, review, and correct privileges in virtually any system, and in virtually all levels of granularity. Eurekify’s UUID tool is an optional add-on to EQM, providing powerful account correlation capabilities. EQM is often used as a first step in the implementations of Eurekify ERM and ECM.
Common Privileges Quality Processes
- Periodic review and cleanup of access rights, across all relevant systems, and in all levels of granularity
- Real-time recommendations and review of privileges requests, approvals, and actual assignments
- Privileges certification by business managers and owners
- Privileges lifecycle reporting and documentation processes
How It Works and Main Capabilities
Eurekify EQM comprises of a centralized repository for access rights from one or more systems and applications, and provides powerful analysis tools to identify exceptional access rights, flawed authorization structures, and various other inconsistencies.
- Easy to deploy and master
- Can be used for any platform, system, and application
- Any level of granularity
- Assess and quantify privileges quality metrics
- Flexible browsing and querying
- Quickly detect and correct bad privileges and role definitions
- Quickly detect and correct mismatches between HR and privileges data
- Quickly detect and treat privileges collectors, orphan accounts
- Analyze and optimize authorization structures (groups, profiles, roles)
- Let business managers review and certify/attest privileges
- Comprehensive reporting and dashboards
When to Use
- As an independent tool to cleanup access rights and to then maintain privileges over time
- As a first step in Identity Management projects, to reduce complexity, implementation time, and cost. (And to reduce licensing costs to actual needs.)
- As a first step in compliance projects, removing excessive and violating access rights
- As a first step in role management projects, to substantially reduce complexity, time, and cost.
- As an administrative management tool for major IT systems such as RACF, Top Secret, Active Directory, Unix, Databases, SAP, etc.
Common Managed Systems
Eurekify EQM can be applied to almost any platform, system, or application, so long as that system can somehow externalize access rights. EQM can also easily consolidate access rights from multiple systems into one coherent view. Examples of managed systems include but are not limited to:
- Mainframe security systems: RACF, Top Secret, ACF2
- Distributed systems: Windows, Unix
- Directories: Active Directory, eDirectory, Sun One
- Databases: MS-SQL, Oracle, DB2
- ERP Systems: SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle Apps, Great Plains, MFG Pro
- Collaboration systems: Lotus Notes, Groupwise
With Eurekify EQM you can quickly remove many incorrect privileges much of the clutter in authorization structures, thereby reducing operational and security risks, and substantially easing deployment of identity, compliance, and role management solutions.
